This pattern is for a crescent-shaped shell stitch shawlette. It was designed for and works up beautifully in gradient yarn, but is also stunning in solid or stripes as shown.

How to Resize
This pattern is not meant to be resized and does not resize easily. Alternate sizes of this pattern will be posted in the Betty McKnitiverse Membership Community.
Begin Pattern
With (Color A) 4 mm hook Ch 91.
Change to smaller hook.
Row 1: vst in 5th st from hook, *sk 1, vst, repeat from * to last 2 sts, sk 1, vst inc in last st (46 vsts – remember vst inc always counts as 2 vsts, and the chain + vst at the beginning of the row also counts as 2 vsts).
Turn
Row 2: ch 4, working into vsts (bet dcs), vst, vst inc, 42 vst, vst inc in each of last 2 vsts. (50 vsts)
Turn
It is helpful to place a marker before and after the center 42 vsts. You will be making an increase in the last vst before the first marker, and in the first vst after the marker. See photo, keep in mind the photo is of a swatch, so my center vst count is different from yours.
