This variation of the classic 6-Day Kid Blanket works from the center out into the shape of a seven-pointed star. This custom version is specifically designed to be made with Juniper Moon Farm’s Cumulus Degrade, the softest of cotton yarns in spectacular color gradients.
Introduction
The 6-Day Star Blanket™ was inspired by the 6-Day Kid Blanket, a classic chevron blanket with alternating rows of single crochet, double crochet, and clusters. The 6-Day Star really shines when made with gradient yarns; this pattern is the perfect match for Juniper Moon’s colors.

Does it Really Only Take Six Days?
All of my patterns that use the same six rows alternating rows of sc, dc, and clusters, with or without chevrons, are named 6-Day Crochet. The name of this pattern comes from the original 6-Day Kid Blanket, which was toddler sized and made with chunky yarn, and took me an easy six days to make. This version can be completed in six days crocheting 2-4 hours per day. If you are new to crochet, or don’t have 2-4 hours/day to crochet, you may need more time.
First Timers
This is an easy pattern but it is not a beginner pattern. You will need to know how to chain, single crochet, and double crochet. This pattern doesn’t teach those skills, however, there are plenty of resources online and elsewhere to learn them, so even very new crocheters can make a 6-Day Star Blanket once they know a few basics.
Setup Rounds, Round Numbers
There are dozens of 6-Day Crochet patterns, and in order to provide consistency across all of the 6DKB variations, the rows or rounds are numbered to correspond to the original 6-Day Kid Blanket. The cluster rounds are always Row or Round 2 and 3, the dc rounds are always Row or Round 5 and 6, and the sc rounds are always Row or Round 4 and 7.
The pattern starts with nine Setup Rounds which are only worked once. After that, repeat Rounds 2-7 a total of five times. Do not repeat the Setup Rounds.

Changing Colors
The most common question I have received about the 6-Day Star made with Juniper Moon Farm Cumulus Degrade is, “Did you control the colors?” The answer is no – the yarn is doing all the work, and the gradients unfold like magic in the stitches. The only manipulation I suggest is to pull from the opposite end of the yarn each time you start a new ball. Begin the first ball by pulling from the outside, and pull the second ball from the inside, alternating each time so that the color at the end of one ball matches up to the color in the beginning of next ball.
When adding a new ball, pull the new yarn through the last two loops of the last stitch made with the old ball. Weave ends securely.
Joining the rounds
Take care that you do not work into the sl st at the join of the round and create extra stitches. I recommend using stitch markers to prevent extra stitches being created.
