Reverse Single Crochet
The 6-Day Star, Superstar, and Supernova Blankets have a very simple edge round of reverse single crochet (rsc).
Reverse single crochet, or crab stitch, as it’s sometimes called, is a great basic edge for projects. It’s easy, clean, and creates a cool twisted/braided appearance.
rsc can be intimidating for crocheters since it’s worked in the opposite direction from how you normally crochet. Right-handed crocheters will work this stitch from left to right. Left-handed crocheters will work the stitch from right to left. It’s actually very simple once you get the hang of going backwards.
You can also accomplish the same look with the twisted single crochet (abbreviated tw-sc) instead. It creates the exact same stitch and look by twirling your hook instead of working backwards. Twirling the hook is actually a lot of fun!
